Details about the program.
The U12 Competition Introduction Program is a program that provides U12 aged participants the opportunity for further skill development and to get a taste of the competitive stream of play before they opt-in at U14.
The U12 CI program is a supplement to the U12 club program. The program will run for approximately 14 weeks and includes both on-ice and off-ice activities focusing on skill development at and average of 4-5 hours a month. The CI schedule will be designed to avoid conflicts with U12 club team events. The program wraps up at the Pacific Challenge Cup tournament in Richmond in February 2026.
In previous years the cost of the program has been approximately $150-200. Expenses include ice costs and tournament registration. Coaches may also recommend training opportunities such as power skating and dryland. Other options include jerseys and apparel. A parent's meeting will be held to discuss and decide.
Who is the program for?
U12 CI is open to all U12 aged athletes, both male and female, who are confident in their skating and ringette abilities and are seeking a more competitive athletic experience. The Competition Introduction Program is for athletes in the late Learn to Train stage of development in the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) program.
